Our service is fully mobile and can come to you, whether at home, work or anywhere you require. Contact us today to book an appointment at a time and location convenient to you.
Firstly, we will require your vehicle! Upon arrival at your chosen location we will test drive the vehicle (with you if required) to perform some basic tests that will allow us to ascertain if there are any issues that would negatively impact our tuning services and render it pointless. In this situation we will clearly notify you and not charge you for the service. We will also need approximately 1 hour to carry out the changes and perform both a pre-tuning test drive and a post-tuning test drives to ascertain the improved performance.
Yes! From our extensive experience tuning both automatic and manual vehicles we have noticed about equal gains for both when carrying out our services. You will typically discover that either the manual or automatic gear change needs to be made less often after completion, leading to a smoother driving experience, due to this increase in power.
Although every vehicle we remap is different and depends heavily on the vehicle make and model, our prices typically start from £150. Contact us today and a member of our friendly team will be happy to discuss the options available to your vehicle provide you with a no-obligation remapping quote.
Yes! In fact, from carrying out many tuning services on vans we have noticed that these vehicles often see amazing gains from the remapping process. There are two primary reasons for these gains, including the fact that diesel engines (especially turbo diesels) often have a wide variety of limiters in place that stop the van from reaching its true potential, and that increasing the torque of the engine will mean you have a lot more power available in a fully loaded van when required.
Because the process does not change any hardware of your vehicle and is merely changing data held on a component of your car or van, we have nothing to give a warranty on. However, in situations where you have a problem, we will do our best to provide assistance including returning the car to the standard settings for testing etc.
There is no change needed to any hardware for engine remapping and in the main is both physically and diagnostically undetectable. We do not replace any components we overwrite the ECU (Engine Control Unit) engine map this is essentially software.
Yes! As the engine mapping service is fully software based we can always reverse the information back to standard at any time. We create a backup of the original mapped settings on a hard drive so in the event you decide to return the vehicle to its standard non-tuned state, our mobile service can arrange to meet you to reprogram the ECU at any time.
In fact, this process is the modern version of chipping. The old technique involved installing a customised microchip that had a set of data already burnt on to it into the ECU. In the modern re-mapping process, a copy of the data currently stored on the ECU is created and then replaced with the performance data. The advantage of this is that you are able to apply different maps (where applicable) and also restore the original settings should you require it in the future. Because you have not changed any standard part of the car, the warranty will be unaffected.
Because the process of re-mapping is entirely localised to the ECU of the vehicle and is completely software based, there is only minimal risk to you. In the very unlikely event that something was to happen to your ECU during the re-mapping process, we will replace it. We carry out thorough test drives both at the start and end of the re-mapping process to ensure the performance gains have come into effect.
This will somewhat depend on your typical driving style, for example if you are a more frugal driver your fuel economy will drop, whereas drivers who use the unlocked power more frequently and driver the car faster will see their consumption drop as it would anyway. When we carry out the re-mapping process on the ECU the open loop parameters for fuel are altered to increase performance, and using this performance constantly will require your vehicle to use more fuel. To avoid this, if normal driving is observed then you will notice fuel consumption is generally unaffected by the process. A number of our customers who frequently drive on motorways have also reported better fuel economy after the remapping service.
This is entirely up to you, because an ECU can only store one map at a time and the original map is not stored digitally in the vehicle, it is very difficult to tell if the car has been remapped or not to compare against. Not all insurance companies are knowledgeable about the process of remapping and therefore may or may not add a premium for carrying out the re-mapping process. You should always check your insurance documentation thoroughly before having your car remapped to see if this is the case.
There are many reasons why car and van manufacturers purposely de-tune their vehicle engines before they sell them, including the fact that because they have to sell their vehicles all around the world they must de-tune the engines specifically for different fuel grades and climates to prevent damage that may be caused by those atmospheric conditions. They also target a specific driving experience because they know that the average car buyer may not blistering horsepower from their engine – an elderly woman for example may not be too impressed by a VW Golf TDI wheel spinning in third gear when she takes it for a test drive. The end result of this is that they must make compromises between performance and providing the expected driving experience for their customers.
