EGR Removal

EGR DELETE / EGR BYPASS

Exhaust Gas Recirculation is an emissions control device that aims to reduce NOx emissions in accordance with EU emission regulations. One of the by-products of this control device is that it can impact the performance of the vehicle. The deletion and bypass software we use is designed to remove the functionality of the EGR valve, resolving these performance impacts.

HOW DO EGR VALVES WORK?

The Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve creates a loop leading back from the exhaust manifold, leading to the intake manifold, which recirculates burnt gases.
The valve has a solenoid electromagnet controlled by the vehicle’s ECU using a duty request cycle to open the valve and recirculate burnt gases.
A control measure in the ECU is then updated with a record of the amount of additional gas detected by the manifold absolute pressure sensor.

EGR VALVE PROBLEMS

Quite often, the soot in the gases the EGR Valve recirculates have a naturally high soot content, which can lead to a build up of carbon deposits around the operation area of the circulation loop. This eventually can cause the valve to sometimes stick in various positions. Typically in a closed loop environment it is preferrable to have a closed loop environment that allows it to pressurise, and unfortunately a EGR with these issues can create an open loop environment for the turbo, as it provides a feedback straight to the intake manifold of vehicle. This can lead to numerous issues such as inefficient boost problems and large reductions in fuel economy and available power.

Restored Engine Power
Restored MPG
Cleaner emissions as faulty EGR’s create much higher soot deposits
Can prevent DPF failure as the soot is caught in the DPF trap
Can prevent EGR replacement which can cost hundreds of pounds
Still 100% MOT compliant

The process of properly disabling a EGR valve involves more than simply turning off the software codes associated with it, the pvalve itself needs proerly disabling to ensure it is not trying to recirculate any exhaust gases whilst still physically functional in the engine. Carrying out this process will also give you the benefits of saving money in repairs and fuel costs in the future.
